A powerful message & a stuffed lion
Toward the end of my first couple years of intensive mediumship study, I attended a workshop on the beautiful Hood Canal in Washington to study platform mediumship, (mediumship reading for an audience). I was one of many mediums who had come from around the world. I had attended the first of two workshops and was scheduled to go home but instead, an unexpected set of magical circumstances allowed me to stay for one more night. In fact the whole trip was peppered with a huge amount of unbelievable synchronicities which had aligned for me to be able to attend with my seven month old baby in tow. I am grateful to my husband and parents who came along to help with all the parenting.
I had wanted to stay one more night because Mavis Patilla, a famous medium whom I highly respect, was visiting from England to teach the second half of the workshops. She had a sold out audience reading on her first night there and I really wanted to attend. An audience reading, or platform reading, is a powerful experience in which a medium opens to the spirit world for an audience. Loved ones in spirit come through for a few people while everyone witnesses. No one knows who will receive messages or what they will be about and I find the experience to be quite amazing both as an audience member and as the medium on stage. One of the magical circumstances from the trip was that somehow they had one extra ticket and I was the lucky recipient.
There were 80 or so people in the audience and to my delight, my seat was quite close to the front. As she was working with the spirit world, I was really admiring the way she was delivering information to people and thought, “wow, I want to record this.” There was a short break as I had that thought and I ran to get my phone. We resumed the session and I started recording. She went to someone and then once she finished with that contact, she said, “Okay, now I’ve got someone who’s really into yoga.” I thought, “well, that’s everyone!” but no one raised their hand. Eventually I tentatively raised my hand and so did another woman and Mavis jumped right into juggling back and forth between us. First she connected with the other woman, then came to me and said, “now with you, I’ve got an Anne, or an Annie.” Oh my. “Yes”, I said, “Anna.” She made a joke about it being close enough and everyone laughed. She said, “Mediumship comes down your mother’s line and is very strong in you.” There were a few more comments about this and then she paused and focused very intently on me and said with a kind of powerful conviction, “You were born to teach, that’s what you were born to do.” She talked for a moment about how I had been teaching in another capacity already, which I confirmed. Then she said, “You may try to do other things, but eventually the mediumship will rise and take over.”
And indeed, that is how it happened.
I was at a holiday party a few weeks ago and was talking with someone who was telling me about an amazing dream she had in which a woman named Mavis Patilla came to her and offered some pretty incredible healing to her. She had no idea who it was but remembered the name and looked her up when she woke up. As we were visiting she felt compelled to tell me all about this dream and I was blown away by the synchronicity. Perhaps it was an invitation.
So wherever you are in the spirit world now Mavis: Thank you for your powerful words during that pivotal time and for all the support and healing you have provided and continue to provide for so many. I am saying a clear YES if this does happen to be an invitation to collaborate, to learn, to teach, to heal together.
My invitation for you, dear reader, is to notice when things are lining up for you. When against all odds, something has come to fruition. Allow yourself to notice all the energies that have come together to support you.
Just as I was writing those last sentences above, my son and niece, both eight, came running in wanting me to name the beautiful lion stuffie I purchased today, while on vacation in Mexico. I don’t think I have ever purchased a stuffie for myself as an adult. I was really drawn to it as I pulled it up out of the basket of hand-made stuffed animals a sweet young boy was selling on the beach. I offered it to my son but his heart was set on something else. I reluctantly put it back but then my brother, Skye, who was watching said, “Anna, I think you should get it for yourself.” He was smiling with love and seemed firm about the idea. I loved the nudge from him, so I got it. It felt totally right. As I was gently applying sunscreen to Skye’s face a bit later, something I haven’t done in many years, he said, “you know I’m not really into all that stuff (mediumship, spirituality, synchronicities) but I kind of had a vision with that lion.” He explained that it seemed like it belonged in my life and felt important. It’s really unlike him to say that kind of thing and it was a tender moment. So when the kids came in just now asking me what I wanted to name my special new lion companion, I said without hesitation as things clicked into place and I suddenly realized the connection, “Mavis.”
If you are feeling ready to wake up into more of your magical life, come and connect with me! I’m here to do just that.
